Shift signups for the 2025 Fair are now open!
Our shift-based Fair staff help us ensure that the Fair is a success and make all the fun possible! Positions are paid and/or provide a free Fair pass and many also give you a highly coveted Fair staff t-shirt. No matter your age or interest, there's a role for you!

PRE-FAIR
Stringer: Help prepare entry tags for the Fair: stringing tags, alphabetizing, organizing, and more. This position is seated and low-intensity. Ages 12 and up, but anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a responsible caregiver.
Couriers: Couriers take tagged entries to the correct spot in the exhibit hall and help with exhibit placement. Ages 8 and up.
Entry Check-In: Support exhibitors with check-in and registration for their Hall entries! Ages 16 and up.
Entry Pick Up: Support exhibitors with picking up their entries after the Fair is over. Ages 16 and up.

DATA ENTRY
Data Entry: Assist with entering all printed entry forms into our online system! Proficiency in computers is required. It would be helpful if workers in this position could bring their own laptop, but if not, one can be provided. Ages 16 and up.

WASTE MANAGEMENT
Waste Station Setup: Help us set up the waste stations and sorting station for the Fair! Ages 14 and up.
Waste Station Adult: Keep our fairgrounds clean and help the Fair on its journey to becoming a zero waste event! Help collect, sort, and dispose of recycling, food waste/compostables, and trash. Adults can monitor one of our 4 waste stations, helping fairgoers understand which bin their items belong in. Ages 18 and up.
Trash Kids: Kids and teens will perform a combo of classic and new "trash kid" roles, and will roam the grounds and work with vendors. This is a great job for kids who like to be active. Ages 12 to 17.
Sorters: Help in our back of house sorting station to sort the waste from outside the booth area into recycling, composting, and trash streams and boost our diversion from the landfill! At night we will also be sorting the trash from the waste stations- it will be a party! Think music, glow sticks, and diverting recycling and compost from the landfill! This is a great job for kids and adults who like to be active and are comfortable getting dirty. Ages 14 and up.
Waste Station Breakdown: Help us break down the waste stations and clean buckets following the Fair! Ages 18 and up.
Waste Hall Help: Help us divert food waste from the landfill as we breakdown the hall exhibits. Ages 18 and up.

SECURITY
Security Kids: Manage entrances to the Fair and Hall. Ensure that fairgoers have tickets at entry and stamp hands at exit. Ages 12 and up.
Security Adults: Monitor the entrance and exit gates at the Fair. Ages 16 and up. All security personnel should plan to attend a training session on Wednesday, August 20th at 5 PM.

FIBER TENT
Fiber Tent Attendant: Help out with crafts and displays in the fiber tent! Comfort dealing with the public is crucial, as are an interest in handicrafts and fiber arts. No experience is needed. Ages 16 and up.

BARN
Barn Kids: Chip in to help make the Animal Barn a positive visitor experience! Support Barn managers in answering questions, handing out scavenger hunts and prizes, helping with animal meet and greets, watering animals, keeping the Barn clean, and helping to enforce Barn rules. There is no guarantee of hands-on, up-close experiences with animals, as all animals in the Barn belong to individual farmers. This is not a role for kids not interested in interacting with the public, unable to focus on a task, or uncomfortable with animal waste. Ages 8 and up. 4-H kids: please do not sign up for Barn kid shifts if you are planning on entering or showing animals.
Barn Adults: Help keep Barn kid volunteers on task. Basic knowledge of livestock and island farms is preferred but not mandatory. This position is focused primarily on working with Barn kid volunteers on their tasks of handing out scavenger hunts and prizes, watering animals, keeping the Barn clean and enforcing Barn rules. There is no guarantee of hands-on, up-close experiences with animals. You will work closely with the Barn managers and support them as needed. Ages 16 and up. Barn adults must attend a mandatory info session at the Animal Barn on Wednesday, August 20th at 5:30 PM.
Barn Manager Support Staff: Seeking farm- and island-knowledgeable individuals to help with the late shift! Support staff will help farmers with shaving, water and mucking needs at evening feeding times, keep Barn kid volunteers on task, and assist with closing up the Barn for the night. They will also keep things in line at the Barn while Barn Managers are handling Thursday livestock Judging events. Ages 16 and up. Personnel able to assist with Friday, Saturday, AND Sunday are strongly preferred. Please email julielikescows@gmail.com with questions about this position. Barn adults must attend a mandatory training session at the Animal Barn on Wednesday, August 20th at 5:30 PM.
Barn Cleanup: Crowds aren't your thing? Enjoy a good work out? Need some community service hours? Help farmers take their animals home and get stalls and Barn cleaned out! All ages welcome, but anyone under 16 must be supervised by a responsible caregiver.

TICKET BOOTHS
Ticket Booth Attendant: Join us at the ticket booths selling entrance tickets, checking members' passes, and scanning online tickets! Knowledge of the iPad is useful as we use the Square system. Cash handling experience and comfort in a hectic environment are crucial. Ages 16 and up. All ticket booth workers should plan to attend an info session at the Ag Hall on Wednesday, August 20th at 6 PM.

MERCHANDISE BOOTH
Merch Booth Attendant: Join us to sell Fair merchandise at our Merchandise Booth! This position requires standing for long periods of time, working in hot temperatures, and lifting up to 15 pounds.Knowledge of the iPad is useful as we use the Square system. However, we will train and there are other roles in this area. Ages 16 and up.
