“The scale of this building is what makes it unique… I don’t think any of us really realized the full potential of what this place was going to become. We were focused on the building [which was] going to be used for the Fair. It’s amazing what it turned into. That building is a cathedral.” Andrew Woodruff

General Information
Legacy runs deep through the land and buildings located at 35 Panhandle Road in West Tisbury. Formerly owned by Edwin Newhall “Bob” Woods (the great-grandson of founding father and first Secretary of the Society, Henry L. Whiting), the 20+ acres at the intersection of State & Panhandle Roads now house the ‘new’ Agricultural Hall, 2 animal barns, an outdoor riding ring and outbuildings. Ringed by open space interspersed with old growth trees and flanked to one side by a large hayfield, the site oozes rural tranquility and charm.
The main hall, a wooden barn originally located in rural New Hampshire, was painstakingly dismantled board by board, numerically tagged, stacked, bundled and brought to the island in the spring of 1994 by 42 volunteer ‘Barnbusters’. In November of that year, in a confluence of goodwill, hundreds of folks from every corner of the island helped raise, sheath, shingle and paint the ‘new’ Hall. A front hall and verandah were added in the style and spirit of the ‘old’ Ag Hall, now known as the Grange Hall, on State Road.
The property is available for limited weddings and memorial services, religious/non-profit/educational/governmental events, and agricultural activities. We cannot accommodate any birthday or anniversary celebrations, fundraisers, or corporate events. Please contact us below to inquire if your event falls into these categories, check date availability, and discuss current rental rates.
Weddings
Nestled in a quiet corner of West Tisbury, the Ag Hall is the quintessential venue for your island wedding. The Main Hall, made of vaulting post and beam construction, offers intimacy without crowding while also housing the island’s best—and largest—dance floor. Slide open the central barn doors and the space is filled with the aura of surrounding trees and hayfield. A more intimate front hall complete with stone hearth can be staged to meet your whim. A commercial warming kitchen completes the package.
The Martha’s Vineyard Agricultural Society’s Agricultural Hall is available for select weddings annually. Access is granted for the day of the rental from 8am–10pm.
Please contact us for rates and availability below. We are now sold out for 2026 and unable to host any more weddings this year.
