Thursday, October 9th from 5–7 PM at Morning Glory Farm
Join us for a weed and soil health walk with Sam Glaze-Corcoran and Maria Gannett of UMass Extension! At this tour, Maria will host a weed-walk focusing on some common species that are difficult to control, such as bindweed, jimsonweed, mugwort, and yellow nutsedge. Learn how to confidently identify these species and what traits to consider for more effective management. Sam will then share her knowledge on how to maintain soil health in sandy soils, including in-ground demos. Dinner will follow.
Sam Glaze-Corcoran is the Soil Testing Lab Manager, and her specialties are soil health, soil fertility, field crop management (corn, pasture, hay), grazing management, manure management, cover crops, and plant nutrition. Maria Gannett is the Extension's weed management specialist; she has been working lately on no-till organic weed management and weed management in compost.
COST: FREE and open to all current farm employees. Dinner provided, registration appreciated. Sign up below!
