AGES 10–15: Katama Cowpokes Working Steers Club led by Julie Scott and Carole Soule
Meetings: Every other Sunday from 2–4 PM at The FARM Institute starting Sunday, October 19th.
Description: Want to train a pair of calves to obey your every command? This working steer/oxen group is for you! You'll teach calves to respond to voice commands, so pull on your boots, and get ready to get dirty working with amazing cows. This is the highest commitment 4-H club we offer on the island. Kids must be committed to attending every other Sunday and comfortable with both large animals and animal waste.
Cost: All 4-H clubs will cost $40 for the year (September 2025 to August 2026). New members can pay by check or online during the official 4-H enrollment process later this month. This fee is waived for all families receiving SNAP/HIP benefits.
Enrollment: The enrollment process requires filling out a long set of forms sent via email. These forms MUST be completed before participating in any 4-H activities and then repeated annually every October on 4HOnline.
NOTE: To ensure that as many kids as possible have a chance to be a part of 4-H, at this time, each child may only join one 4-H club.
