The Agricultural Society provides grants to local farmers for supplies and infrastructure. The purpose of the grant program is to assist and perpetuate agriculture on Martha’s Vineyard.
This years grant deadline will be Feb. 29th 2016. Grants will be awarded in April.
Previous grant amounts have ranged from $250 to $2,500 and were used to purchase animal fencing, worm farms, shiitake mushrooms, preschool & elementary school garden infrastructure, cranberry bog restoration, poultry pens, seeds, soil, incubators, cider press, roto-tillers, apiary supplies and much more.
What farmers are saying about the program:
“Thank you very much for the grant. I have spent the money on a new pigpen, which will be very helpful. They have only got out once in the first 48 hours. Pigs will be pigs!” – E.W
